- If I were homeless

- Since the Nats are playing such good ball lately, I don't really have anything to add and don't want to jinx anything. So instead, I'll start a weekly addition called:
If I were homeless - Part I
I fully recognize that many homeless people are mentally ill, so an apples to apples comparison is not possible and I will try not to alienate those who are homeless (though that brings up a whole other issue… if homeless people are reading this blog and object to it, perhaps they are not utilizing their time correctly). But if you’ve ever lived in a big city, you’ve probably seen numerous homeless people. I give money to various charities every year, but I rarely give money to random bums. Sometimes I do, usually for no reason, but I digress.
Anyway, I think I’d be a pretty good homeless person. Hopefully I never have to prove it, though part of me thinks that in under 2 years I could go from completely broke and homeless to living in an apartment with a real job. Assume for now that I could make a minimum of $10 per day just begging (which seems about right if you just sit there with a sign, though as I become a better bum I think I could learn enough tricks to increase that to $25 per day). So if I’m living off $10 per day, I think I could eat and drink for no more than $5 per day (using leftover food in trash, McDonald’s $1 menu and other cheap food items that are readily available across the country). Anyway, under this assumption that I could survive and pocket $5 per day … I'd operate the following 5-step plan:- Living Conditions/Shelter
- Food/Water
- Clothing
- Bathrooms and hygiene
- Getting a job
- I take it back

- Atilano's glasses are awesome. And so is his goatee. I will be dressing like Atilano for halloween from now on.
- Atilano.... love this guy but he needs a makeover

- Good looking outing by the rookie pitcher. But I fear he may have peaked in his debut. His quote after tells me everything:
'After seven years, I made it, finally. I can't ask for nothing better than that.'
Well Luis... you could ask to pitch again, and maybe rack up a few wins. Hey, perhaps even remain in the Show for awhile. But alas, its not his fault. Its his look. Those sport glasses wreak of 'right back to the minors'. They're not intimidating. This whole team needs an attitude makeover so lets start with teh rookie pitcher. How about going Chris Sabo style and dusting off the rec specs? Or getting some skull glasses like Wild Thing Ricky Vaughn.
Would that be too much to ask?

Thoughts?
- Steroids? Good for them.

- I'm a little jealous of the Reds right now. Reds fans have had way more losing seasons than DeezNats, but at least Reds players are trying. You can't try much harder than using steroids. How bout some Nats players showing us the same kind of effort? If I had children, and they were constantly getting Ds and Fs, I'd be proud of them if they cheated a little. Maybe not a good long term strategy, but it's a step in the right direction at least.
- Is it just me or does 7-7 feel like we're in the playoffs?

- If I may quote my favorite baseball movie:
"These guys ain't so f*cking bad"
